Mt. Mabilog | Bunga Falls

After 'enjoying' the trails of Mt. Damas, I took an easy hike or as I call it 'a rest climb' at Mt. Mabilog last Sunday. I just want to apologize if I misspell 'Mabilog' with 'Malibog'. So yeah, I'm sorry. (lol)

We assembled in Gil Puyat at around 3:30am and left the place at around 4:30am. We rode a bus going to Lucena (fare is P120+), dropped of at San Pablo, then rode a jeepney going to San Pablo City where we rode another jeepney bound to Mt. Mabilog jump-off. You can actually rent a jeepney straight to the jump-off for ease of trip.

Before we start the long walk, we had a rest at Pandin Lake. It is considered as "The Most Pristine Lake" of the seven lakes in San Pablo. The lake is very clean, you won't see any trash nearby. There are also bamboo rafts where you can have breakfast or lunch. You can also ride those rafts if you want to cross the lake and go to Yambo Lake.

All of us were amazed by the view of the lake. The bamboo rafts are well-made, it would be a really nice place to relax and eat.

After having our break in the lake (that rhymed, lol), we started the long walk towards the summit. The trail is very nice and friendly. It has a few steep path but nothing serious. First timers will love this trail. :)

Along the trail, you will see a very majestic view of Mt. Banahaw (back) and Mt. Cristobal (front).

It took us about 2 hours to reach the summit. The campsite is very wide and comfortable. Overnight stays would be very nice but since we only did a day-hike, we got a really 'warm' welcome from the sun. But it's okay, there are trees around that we used as shades and I was really thankful for a good weather that day.

We had a long break at the summit that we even had enough time to have our lunch and sleep. We left the summit at around 1:00pm then we got back at Pandin Lake at roughly 2:00pm. We had a short rest there then we rode a jeep going to Bunga Falls.

We arrived in Bunga Falls at around 3:30pm. All of us enjoyed the splendid view of the twin falls.

The basin of the falls is very deep and since I can't swim I just stayed in the cottage and watched the others jump off the top of the falls. It was really scary and exciting to watch. We had our doze of booze and stories then left the falls at around 6:00pm.

We rode a jeep going straight to San Pablo then we rode our bus going to Manila. I got home at around 11:00pm.

One of the best things about travelling is that you get to see your old friends and meet new ones. Maybe this is one of the many reasons why I travel/climb. I'm still searching for other good reasons though. :)

Until then, my friends. ♥
