Why I Travel
“It seems as if in the process of growing up we lose the ability to wonder about the world. And in doing so, we lose something central – something philosophers try to restore.”
– Sophie’s World
When we were all just a kid, we always wanted to know and explore things. We always ask questions because we know so little and got no experience compared to the adults. Things change as we grow up. Our knowledge about life got better and we seem to know more about things. However, being an adult, we are expected to act like one. In that matter, we somehow lose the kid in us. We stop exploring because we think that life lessons will get to us eventually and that we should not seek for it.
But we should not stop exploring. We all know that the only constant thing in the world is change. Life is changing everyday and we should keep up with life.
As for me, my means of keeping up with life is travelling. I get to experience things that I don’t usually experience in my comfort zone. I get to know myself more and discover the abilities that I thought I never had in me. I somehow broke the barrier between myself and what’s out there. I learn about people and I develop a deeper understanding of life.
One of the greatest thing about travelling is that it makes you think that there is so much more; that you should keep stepping further. It makes you crave for places. It makes you want to try out new experiences. Every place you go will make you a different person. It will teach you cultures and will make you understand languages even if you don’t learn them, you will have that kind of understanding towards people. I haven’t been to so many places like the others, I haven’t even been outside my country but it won’t stop me from exploring and travelling because everybody should start somewhere.
So push yourself out of your comfort zone and unlock your capabilities out there. Make yourself a promise to travel at least once a month. You might think that you are now doing good but you can do better when you travel.
